Whoever lives for the sake of combating an enemy has an interest in the enemy’s staying alive.
Friedrich Nietzsche: Human, All Too Human, no. 531
The first time that I stumbled upon this paragraph, I immediately thought about “the question” as to whether or not, the profession should be legalized. Just to show that there are a lot of shades of gray, some will argue that legalization and decriminalization are two completely different approaches. However, for abolitionists, everything is black and white: the oldest profession must be eradicated, at any cost.
While I would not want to see a rushed legalization of everything, I find it quite troubling to see that they are willing to downright lie to get their point across. The failed attempt at making up that a German woman was forced to take up a job in a brothel or else she would lose her unemployment benefits is an example that comes to my mind. It makes me wonder if, unconsciously, they are the ones who need the industry the most. After all, if they would have things their way, they would become unemployed because there would be no more “enemy” to fight against.
For further reading on the subject, I recommend reading Choice Joyce’s blog, who is able to explain abolitionism-related issues better than I am.
Other news: lately I have been working hard on a brand new website design, so you will be able to see a completely revamped website soon.
