Because there are times when I simply can’t afford to spend my available time unwisely, I have become very conscious about time management. It was a welcome relief to turn this efficiency habit off for a few days. During those holidays I finally had the luxury to do the things that I was staying away from because “I had more important things to do”. Reading various blogs was one of them, and here are the highlights of my travel in Blogland:
an update on the outcome from this entry from Tallis Ryhope:
too many people want to live their life dwelling on the bad things that have happenned to them, talking about them constantly, blaming them for everything that goes wrong, relying on them as an excuse for when they fail through lack of effort, making themselves into victims.
she’s not doing that, instead she’s dragged every possible benefit from it, which is amazing, i don’t doubt that the next few years will be an interesting time to know xena, i’m curious to see where she’ll go with this new strength.
Assault should obviously not be trivialized just because it has the potential to teach, but moving forward is the only way to heal. It’s somewhat hard to accept though that life chooses to be cruel when bringing personal growth.
Success doesn’t come to you, you have to go to it. It’s up to you to open the door to opportunity. The golden opportunity you are seeking is inside of you. It is not in your environment; it is not in chance or luck, or the help of others; it is inside of you alone. You can start precisely where you are at any time. The grass always looks greener in far away places, but opportunity lies right where you are. Take advantage of them when they appear. You don’t need more strength, more ability or greater opportunity. What you need is to use what you have. Learn to seize good fortune, for it is always around you. Every situation, properly perceived, becomes an opportunity. When you educate yourself, you build the power to accomplish your goals………
Those are amazing words about the role we play in creating our success. I agree so much with this, but it has been hard for me to put it into practice because I have been raised with the opposite mentality. Nowadays, I realize that this is the main, if not the sole reason behind some of my earlier failures.
The answer to everything? by The Player:
While our industry is more often than not depicted as some kind of big centralized monster, it is in reality very fragmented. Ladies who have been coerced into the industry testify that they have never met a lady who was not working for a pimp. They give this kind of statement without any intent of misrepresentation: the coercition sector is all that they have witnessed from the industry. At the other end of the spectrum, some ladies who entered this profession willingly claim that trafficking and pimping are urban legends because they only communicate with ladies who are in the same situation. This entry explained in a nutshell why we see so many opposite discourses on the subject of paid companionship. All of them contain a bit of truth.
Other Strippers by Madison Lace:
I liked this description of workplaces consisting of mostly women. While I have spent a few years in such a workplace before entering this industry, I couldn’t have written something better myself. As a companion, when I got sick of the crap pulled by the management and the constant cattiness between coworkers, I have been able to set up my own website and cut off most of this. However, as an exotic dancer, starting a dancing venue by and for yourself is simply unthinkable. With owners getting greedier and greedier on various “house fees”, no wonder why some exotic dancers are considering unionization.
And now I have to conclude with the traditional year-end wishes and say “Happy New Year 2008″ to all of my readers.
